Brash western Canadian star Stuart ‘The West Coast Warlord’ McLellan (23-2-3, 9 KOs) picked up yet another victory last weekend in his hometown of Williams Lake, BC, where he got revenge and set ‘Unfinished Business’ to rest with a TKO win over tough as nails Mexican Isidro Toala.
The two fought last year in Taber, Alberta but a cut from a headbutt caused the bout to be stopped before it got going. On Saturday, Eric de Guzman’s Teofista Boxing rolled into Williams Lake and hometown hero McLellan gave the fans what they were looking for in an electric main event. McLellan got sharper and sharper with each round and put the hurt on the Mexican visitor with increasing precision. After seven rounds Toala elected to remain on his stool and not answer the bell for Round 8, giving McLellan the TKO win and earning him a CNBA title.
In preliminary action local Harley Mulvahill won his pro debut by TKO 4 over Esteban Zambrano while Ken Huber picked up a DQ4 win over Markhaile Wedderburn.
The event was a huge success and it was said Teofista Boxing would return to Williams Lake and that it was not a matter of “if” but “when”. Great news for BC boxing fans!
On Saturday night Lee Baxter Promotions returned to the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with a card full of local Ontario talent.
In the main event of the evening, all-action Canadian welterweight Sam Vargas fought to a ten round draw against Mauro Maximiliano Godoy.
Shocking result in the co-feature with highly touted previously unbeaten Jessica Camara suffering the first defeat of her career via one-punch KO to veteran Natalie Brown. Check out this big right hand KO:
