Rising pound for pound star Vasily Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KOs) successfully moved up and weight and stopped WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares (44-4, 27 KOs) in Round 10 of a brilliant fight as seen live on ESPN from New York. It was no easy task as Linares made a good account of himself including dropping Loma in the sixth. Both men had their moments and the fight was virtually even going into Round 10 when the fleet footed Lomachenko mixed in a debilitating liver-shot at the tail end of a busy combo. Linares dropped and was in a world of pain. He got up at the ten count but the fight was waived off giving Loma the dramatic and impressive win, making him the fastest fighter in boxing history to become a 3-division world champion.
