Unified WBA/WBC Welterweight Champion, ‘One Time’ Keith Thurman (28-0, 22 KO) will make his return to the ring in early 2018 after missing the remainder of 2017 recovering from a biceps injury suffered in his March 2017 victory over Danny Garcia. The rumoured date for his return is April 14th against seasoned welterweight contender Jessie Vargas (28-2, 10 KO), who is coming off a victory over Aaron Herrera in a tune-up bout which took place earlier this month.
Former-welterweight and junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (21-1, 19 KO) will also make his return in a comeback fight against Brandon ‘Bam Bam’ Rios (34-3, 25 KO) on February 17th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV. The rumoured co-featured bout is a super middleweight rematch between Ronald Gavril (18-0, 14 KO) and David Benavidez (19-0, 17 KO).
Undefeated three-division champion Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KO) will also follow up on his 2017 victory over Adrien Broner with another bout at 140 pounds against undefeated IBF Super Lightweight champion Sergey Lipinets (13-0, 10 KO) on February 10th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. A victory over Lipinets would add Garcia’s name to a fairly exclusive list of fighters to win recognized titles in four weight divisions.
All three cards are set to be presented under the Premier Boxing Champions banner and are tentatively scheduled to be broadcast on Showtime.
