2017 is set to go out with a BANG Saturday night at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario as United Boxing Promotions presents the return of top Canadian boxer Brandon ‘Bad Boy’ Cook. The Ajax, Ontario product will be looking to get back in the win column after his last outing saw him suffer his first pro defeat to Kanat Islam in Kazakhstan back in September when they fought for the WBA Inter-Continental Super Welterweight and World Boxing Organization, North American Boxing Organization Super Welterweight titles.
Cook (18-1, 11 KOs) is a big draw in Mississauga, and while he hasn’t fought at the Hershey Centre in over a year, he has boxed in thirteen of his pro outings at the popular venue, all victories.
“I love the opportunity to go around the world and fight the best there is,” Cook told Mississauga.com last week. “But I’ll tell you this, it’s good to be home.”
Argentina’s Hector Carlos Santana (26-8, 20 knockouts) is a veteran of thirty-four fights and Saturday’s main event will be for Cook’s North American Boxing Association Super Welterweight title and the vacant International Boxing Association Intercontinental title.
In the co-main event rising undefeated lightweight Mohammed ‘Feroze’ Abedeen of North York will face off against Argentina’s Jose Aubel for an IBA Americas title.
In a compelling rematch between Canadian cruiserweights, Bowmanville’s Abokan Bokpe will rematch hard-charging Barrie, Ontario native Lyndon Chambers.
Other names slated to see action are big-punching Oshawa heavyweight Franz Rill, Bradley Hamil, Jason Kelly and more!
