It was an old-school Philly barn-burner Saturday night at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where monster puncher junior middleweight Tyrone Brunson (25-6-3, 23 KOs) came out on top in an all-out war against Kermit Cintron (39-6-3, 30 KOs). It was all action in the early going with both men throwing bombs. Cintron looked to be in command in the fourth when he dropped Brunson twice, but the hometown charge survived the round and came roaring back in the fifth. Brunson returned the favour and decked Cintron three times. The fight was waved off after the third one and the Philly crowd erupted. With the win, Brunson captured the vacant USA Pennsylvania State super welterweight title.
Polish star and former light heavyweight / cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek (51-3, 30 KO) returned to action Saturday in Gdansk with a workman-like ten round unanimous decision over Australia’s Solomon Haumono (24-4, 21 KOs). Scores were virtually a shutout in the Pole’s favour. It was Adamek’s first fight in 2016 and took place at heavyweight where he’s been campaigning for the better part of the last ten years.
Former super featherweight world champion Javier Fortuna (32-1-1, 23 KOs) returned to action for the first time in 2017 Saturday in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he stopped Mario Beltre (16-3, 11 KOs). Fortuna decked his man in the first and second rounds to score the stoppage win in his lightweight debut.

We’ve been told MMA fighter Jesse Arnett scored a closely contested six round split decision over Red Deer’s Brian Samuel. Samuel apparently had Arnett down late in the fight but Arnett hung in there. In the co-main event, Alberta’s Alex Torres Rynn moved to 6-0 as a professional with a win over Jesus Perez.
