Rios Alvarado II March 30th, Tim Bradley Set to Return, Adonis Stevenson vs. Darnell Boone II set for March 22!

By FightFan News Wire (05-Feb-2013)

Brandon Rios vs. Mike Alvarado II barn burner set for March 30th!

To quote Hall of Fame baseball superstar Ernie Banks, “Let’s play two.” That’s exactly what undefeated former world champion BRANDON “Bam Bam” RIOS and top-rated contender “Mile High” MIKE ALVARADO will do when they face each other in a rematch of their 2012 Fight of the Year-nominated fight. Rios-Alvarado II will take place, Saturday, March 30 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The 12-round World Boxing Organization (WBO) interim junior welterweight championship rumble will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT.

Tim Bradley set to defend title March 16 vs. Provodnikov

Unbeaten WBO welterweight champion TIMOTHY BRADLEY, JR. (29-0, 12 KOs), of Palm Springs, Calif., is set to defend against top-rated contender RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV (22-1, 15 KOs), of Russia, Saturday, March 16, at The Home Depot Center and will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®. The bout will be Bradley’s first defense of the title he won last year by defeating Manny Pacquiao, against the No. 2-rated contender Provodnikov. Former two-time Méxican Olympian ÓSCAR VALDEZ (2-0, 2 KOs), will highlight the undercard in a six-round featherweight bout.

Adonis Stevenson risking pending title shot with Boone Rematch

Big punching Canadian Adonis Stevenson will put his mandatory IBF title shot at risk on March 22 when he has decided to take a fight against the only man who’s ever beaten him as a professional, unheralded journeyman Darnell Boone. After suffering a shocking defeat via second round TKO to Boone in 2010, Stevenson has won six straight bouts to earn himself a title shot at the winner of the upcoming Carl Froch vs. Mikkel Kessler rematch. Stevenson wanted to keep busy and asked his promoter Group Yvon Michel for the bout and a chance at redemption. The rematch will take place March 22 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. More details will be available shortly.
