PINOY PRIDE XVII PHILIPPINES VS THE WORLD FEATURES 6 FILIPINOS AGAINST 6 FOREIGN OPPONENT

On October 20, 2012 at the new and state of the art SM Mall Of Asia ARENA in Manila, Philippines, one of the biggest boxing shows in the Philippines will be featured.

Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World will showcase 6 Filipino ring warriors against 6 fighters coming from 6 different nations, the first ever boxing event of this caliber in recent years.

Leading Team Philippines will be WBO world # 1 bantamweight AJ “Bazooka” Banal who will try to capture his 1st world title, the vacant WBO Bantamweight belt relinquished by Hall of Fame bound Jorge Arce of Mexico. Banal will be facing the tough WBO world # 2 ranked fighter in Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand.

Boxing analysts and experts see this fight as Aj Banal’s surest ticket at being world champion but Sorsingyu has other plans in mind issuing a statement that e will be going after Banal the whole night to knock him out for the title.

One of the more popular Filipino fighters and current IBF # 4 Featherweight Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista will also banner the Philippine flag during his Philippines vs The World match-up against the hard-charging and heavy-hitting Mexican warrior Daniel “Canerito” Ruiz. Bautista will be gunning for a win to move him up further the world rankings but Ruiz will be a tough obstacle to clear, as he will be pressuring Bautista the whole night bringing with him his high and dangerous 57.58% KO ratio.

Both fighters will be fighting for the vacant WBO International Featherweight title that may bring them as high as number 5 in the WBO rankings.

This boxing fist-fest will be a night of firsts as newly crowned WBO International Light Welterweight Champion Jason “El Nino” Pagara who is fresh from a revenge win over Mexico’s Rosbel Montoya will likewise have his hands full for this first ever world championship boxing at the SM Mall Of Asia ARENA as he is set to defend his title for the first time against undefeated Miguel “Hands of Stone” Antoine of Barbados.

Pagara has been busy training nonstop the past months as he immediately went into training right after his most recent win while Antoine is sure and very focused on not letting this opportunity of beating a known champion in Pagara to improve his resume as a fighter.

Three other Filipino fighters will likewise see action against foreign opposition when Michael “Bruce Lee” Domingo goes up against former Universal Boxing Organization Super Flyweight Champion Mudde Ntambe Rabison, the surging Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales against Indonesian Bantamweight Champion RASMANUDIN and Manila’s Randy Bullong going up against Kazuma Ejiri of Japan.

Grandson of legend Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, Juan Martin Elorde will also be fighting in the undercard against Gerry Sismundo while curtain raisers will be Arjan Canillas of Toledo City, Cebu vs Jake Sawangin of Metro Manila.

The Return of Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista!

One of Philippine boxing’s more recognizable names, Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista has been bearing training as he prepares himself for his anticipated ring return.

Considered as one of the more colorful names in boxing, Boom Boom has racked up 24 straight wins and was one of the toasts of Philippine boxing for his gung-ho, up-front and powerful fighting style despite his youth then.

All that effort went crashing down when he tasted his first defeat against Mexican ring monster Daniel Ponce De Leon where the young Filipino went for broke in the first round getting tagged and finished early.

A lot has happened since as he immediately made a comeback four months after fighting Antonio “Barrio” Meza winning via UD and adding 2 more victories against 2 more Mexicans Genaro Camargo and Eden Marquez before losing again to Heriberto Ruiz by decision.

It was later found out that the banger Bautista had a severe injury on his left power hand when he admitted it to his handlers. He was diagnosed with a rotten bone in his wrist. It was immediately operated on as it was at its worst stage and after 11 months of rest and rehab, he was fighting again.

Bautista slowly fought and quietly won in succession knocking-out 6 of his 7 opponents with none of them going past the 7th round only blemished by the 7th round technical decision revenge win against former oppressor Heriberto Ruiz.

Now, back in training, Bautista is booked a slot at the Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World event headlined by AJ “Bazooka” Banal vs Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand for the WBO World Bantamweight Championship scheduled October 20, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“Boom Boom is ready!” says the Filipino fighter and is gradually but confidently preparing for his next fights that he hopes would lead him to mega fight dates with current WBO Featherweight Champion Orlando Salido or a delightfully desired rematch with Daniel Ponce De Leon in the future.

Bautista will be facing former WBC Latino Super Featherweight Champion Daniel Ruiz who is also known to not back down from exchanges making this a highly anticipated busy and exciting match-up where one fighter will be left standing victorious possibly via KO.

The Philippines vs Mexico of Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista and Daniel Ruiz is part of the Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World mega-boxing presentation of ALA Promotions and ABS-BN Sports. This sporting event will be headlined by the WBO World Bantamweight Championship between WBO World # 1 and # 2 fighters AJ “Bazooka” banal of the Philippines vs Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand respectivel.

Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World WBO World Bantamweight Championship is happening at the SM Mall of Asia ARENA on October 20, 2012.

Tickets are available at all SM City Customer Care Counters and SM City Cinemas nationwide.

Jason Pagara to face unbeaten Miguel Antoine

Bridgetown, Barbados native Miguel “Hands of Stone” Antoine has reached an agreement with the Philippines ALA Promotions to challenge for the WBO International Light Welterweight Championship currently held by Jason “El Nino” Pagara of Philippines’.

The undefeated Antoine who has not been defeated in 18 fights boasts of a 50% knock out rate and would post to be quite a challenge as he is naturally athletic and young like the Filipino Pagara.

Given the monicker “Hands of Stone”, Antoine, Won 17 (KO 9) Lost 0 Draw 1, possesses and packs a mean punch as reflected on the official records with 9 opponents not going past the 5th round and 6 of those did not go past the 2nd round.

As much as he is going to be a challenge for his Filipino opponent, the newly crowned WBO International champion Jason Pagara will likewise be quite the puzzle to solve for the visiting Antoine as Pagara has found his renewed confidence after disposing of his former tormentor Rosbel Montoya of Mexico recently via crowd pleasing KO.

The current WBC Carribean Boxing Federation champion who will be fighting for the first time in foreign soil, is quite confident as they believe they have enough knowledge and power to overcome the champion and take away the title from the Filipino Pagara.

The Pagara-Antoine match-up is one of three titles at stake in the Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World mega-boxing presentation of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports happening on October 20, 2012 at the new SM Mall Of Asia AENA headlined by the WBO World #1 and 2 ranked fighters AJ “Bazooka” Banal of the Philippines vs Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand respectively for the WBO World Bantamweight Championship.

This will likewise be the return of one of Philippine boxing’s more recognizable names Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista who will be facing dangerous Daniel Ruiz of Mexico for the WBO International Featherweight Championship.
