Big punching Rodel Mayol is back in action this weekend in Mexico where he will defend his title against Omar Nino!
Hard hitting Filipino power puncher Rodel Mayol (26-4-1, 20 KOs) returns to action this Saturday night in Guadalajara, Mexico against Mexican Omar ‘Giant Killer’ Nino (28-3-1, 20 KOs). Mayol will be putting his WBC light flyweight title against Nino who is currently ranked No. 1 by the WBC. Mayol has trained at the famed Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, CA for this bout and is coming off winning the WBC light flyweight title last November with a second round TKO over Edgar Sosa (37-5). Mayol is widely regarded one of the biggest punchers in the lower weight divisions. He is best known for his two battles with Ivan Calderon, both which were narrow technical decision losses in close fights. Nino is best known for upsetting Brian Viloria in 2006 to capture the WBC title. Philboxing.com’s Dr. Ed de la Vega will be in Mayol’s corner and will provide analysis and photos from Guadalajara!
