Breaking News
By FightFan News Wire (10-Jan-2010)
Putting the failed prospect of a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, behind him for the time being, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will face rugged top welterweight Joshua Clottey on March 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

The stars will fight, big and bright, deep in the heart of Texas! Jerry Jones and Bob Arum, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and chairman of Top Rank, respectively, announced today that Cowboys Stadium would be the site of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey world welterweight championship fight taking place on Saturday, March 13 and broadcast Live on Pay-Per-View. Formal news conferences at Cowboys Stadium and in New York next week will provide details on tickets and the pay-per-view broadcast. Pacquiao vs. Clottey will be promoted by Top Rank, in association with the Dallas Cowboys and MP Promotions.
Pacquiao and Clottey boast a combine record of 85-6-2 (59 KOs) — a winning percentage of 91% and a victory by knockout ratio of nearly 70%.
“I have wanted to bring a major boxing event to North Texas for many years, so why not bring in the biggest and the best?” asked Jones. “Manny Pacquiao is boxing’s No. 1 pound for pound attraction and the world champion. Manny defending his title against Joshua Clottey is not just a great fight, it’s a great event, and one we can showcase to the fullest in Cowboys Stadium. We’re going to promote this like it was the Super Bowl.”
Cowboys Stadium will be configured for 40,000 fans for the event.
“Jerry Jones knows exactly how big and important this event is which is why it was so easy to put this deal together,” said Arum. “As a lifelong Giants fan I had to receive special dispensation from Steve Tisch, the Giants’ Chairman and Executive Vice President, to bring this event to Cowboys Stadium and he blessed the deal. If Jerry could sell me on Cowboys Stadium and the North Texas market, you know he is going to have no problems selling out Cowboys Stadium on March 13. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and promote Manny’s debut as World Welterweight Champion. Manny Pacquiao is the lone star of boxing. There isn’t a more appropriate place in the world for him to fight!”
Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs), of General Santos City, Philippines, will be defending the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title he earned in his last fight, produced by a 12th round knockout of three-time world champion Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao’s victory made him the first man to win seven titles in as many different weight divisions, with his last three world championships coming by way of knockout. The consensus Fighter of the Year for the third time in the past four years, Pacquiao’s resume features victories over future Hall of Famers, including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and Cotto. His knockout victories over Cotto and Hatton made him the 2009 pay-per-view king, exceeding two million buys combined.
Clottey (35-3, 21 KOs), a native of Accra, Ghana, now fighting out of Bronx, NY, captured the International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight title in 2008 by trouncing three-time world champion Zab Judah. His career has been a highlight reel of thrills featuring victories over two-division world champion Diego Corrales and undfeated contender Richard Gutierrez and a close decision losse to world champion Antonio Margarito. In his last fight Clottey lost a controversial split decision to defending WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden. Clottey is currently world-rated No. 1 by the WBO and No. 4 by the World Boxing Association (WBA).

Floyd Mayweather will also fight on March 13 in Las Vegas. The opponent is undecided yet and frankly there just aren’t many good fighters available as the winner of Berto-Mosley probably won’t be available so soon but Richard Schaefer did say Floyd will fight Mosley if they both win their next fights. A really good opponent that was being discussed is Timothy Bradley but he has ties to showtime and that could be a problem since the fight will be on rival HBO so it’ll be difficult becasue showtime won’t let him. One thing is for sure that it won’t be against Mattew Hatton says Schaefer. Cotto is Top Rank so I don’t see that happening and I believe Cotto is fighting Yuri Foreman in June also. This is just terrible for boxing. The two best fighters in the world fighting on the same just not fighting each other. It’s a shame to boxing. Just when the sport was regaining interest this goes and happens. Thanks Manny and Floyd for ruining what was supposed to be a really good year for boxing. Now we have the greats fighting lower class competition. Some of these fighters are good but just not in the same class as Manny or Floyd.

I think hitler had more sense than you do. Its funny how you everyone you mentioned floyd fought also excluding cotto who is represented by top rank. And I could understand how you might be a manny fan and dislike floyd but to say he’s not a good fighter is just dumb. Floyd is the most talented fighter you have probably seen all your life. When he was on top he was th undisputed welterweight champ. To become the champ you have to beat the top fighters in that division and floyd did while manny still hasn’t. He wins a cheap title against weak opposition and the movies. He has never dominated a division like Floyd did.
-
J.J. Says:
by the way even right now manny isn’t the welterwight champ. He’s just a title holder. there are fighters who you never heard of that have titles. So why doesn’t he aim to become the champ and become truly great. Not such a made champion by Arum and him handpicking other top rank opponents just to ensure he doesn’t lose.

At least PACMAN salvaged a decent opponent in Clottey. I wonder who FLOYD’s gonna face in his next fight and give in to his “Olympic style dope tests”. Will it be Mathew Hatton? Here’s what, FLOYD for once try challenge yourself and put your skills to the test. If you ducked PACMAN the first time, at least fight someone notable, like Paul Williams. For somebody who worships money and ego, that fight is a logical one for FLOYD. And cmon FLOYD, don’t say he is too big for you and duck him altogether again. People are sick and tired of you running around.

Ace Freeman Says:
This better be at 147. If it is, it’s a very solid fight. It’s nowhere near the mega fight we were all hoping for, but Clottey is a top welterweight. Strong, durable, and rugged.
It is a good fight for Manny because he’s there to be hit. It will make it exciting for the fans, and (I believe) will end in a stoppage win for Manny. I think Clottey will eat too many shots and be broken down.
Hopefully Manny comes away unscathed and cooler heads can get the Mayweather fight done after this.

Ace, forget about the Mayweather fight. It wont happen. You know why because your boy is full of excuses. He is a chicken…. ducked all the best fighters that had the potential to beat him i.e. Shane Mosely, Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams…now it is Manny’s turn to be ducked. Worse, Mayweather used his baseless seroid allegation to duck the best. I thought JR wanted the pound for pound title back? How can he accomplish that fighting mediocre boxers? He should go back and retire because he will never get that title back unless he starts fighting the best.

^_^ funny video dude.. that december 13th video said they had agree, but not to random blood and not to draw blood a night before the fight.. coz the remedy was to drink a lot of water or eat to ease or lessen the pain and somehow make it normal, since it’s hard to make weight damn it’s another advantage for floyd coz he doesn’t need that coz he doesn’t rely on his power but on gayness and running…(think)
dude they had agree wtf are you CeddyBaby PACQUIAO agrees to it dude… but the problem is when coz if your a boxer you need energy on you, ok pacman needs power to KTFO mayweather mouth i mean dead in front of thousand of people… you need that to show who’s the real boss…
When is the problem right??? so pacman said he agrees… on the start of the training 30 before the fight and right after the fight, PACMAN humbles himself to be test beyond the RULES and REGULATION of BOXING and NSAC.. wtf is on you mind dude wake up.. PACMAN never disagrees…
And for what his conditioning trainer said,., it’s his opinion based on what he observed dude and when you fight and get it hyped you will say all of those things to boost your athlete or somewhat put fragrance on your name, you are such a noob (newbie) interms of business…
Ok if your conditioning somebody and your on International TV getting the fight for sale, would you say,, “Oh man his like normal, it’s like everyday, his too slow or something like that… Hell NO!!!! you put on a hype so that it could sell more..
those people didn’t even have a business well I’m a businessman and at the same time on a medical field so wtf Am I??? you guess dude…
And put some hyping on your mind.. Even Floyd Sr. Hyped Hatton Am i right or you want me to slapped those video on you tube…
To put it simply what do you do to sell a product??? CeddyBaby think dude don’t be misled by some fraud…
Funny though Some people are misled but Most are smart and don’t just flip side like me… i don’t coz i have no proof seen and pacman has all negative all by his entire life.. and Mayweather has done positive result Xylocane which is banned in Manny states except in NEVADA, that’s why he doesn’t want to fight in TEXAS coz it’s prohibited there…
Oh my gosh… Think people Think… All that Mayweather said Backfired on him…
“Pacman must step up the plate and be like a man and ask me to fight” – now pacman has and he got alot of compromises and excuses and random blood etc..(bitch out dude we all know mayweather got surprised when pacman signed the contract in which he and his clan thought might 80% turned down but pacman signed it though so, they must find another, now that 14 day test is offered i hope clottey fight is not finalized [coz it was said by a fraud when the negotiation was over] pacman might accept it… — lastly he is not a boss of pacman as pacman humbled himself to take that intensive test, but pacman has his own decision he doesn’t need Mayweather but Mayweather needs him clearly.. so what you think … CASH GOAT(Mayweather) is gonna lose a lot of cash..
“He is using PED’s or banned substance”… – Dude your the one using Xylocane!!! Hello any body there??? the danger in using this is this.,.. watch CryBaby I mean CedyBaby watch this…>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAIQBcpHpSs see that??? Oh yeah…
“From Featherweight he boxes as good as he is or more than that in welterweight”… Hello what the fuck you came from that weight also and you banged up to Middle weight Am i right???? And pacman is only at welterweight… And nothing has change to you, you know that i guess people observed that too, except tooot and tooot and blah blah others…
:DPEACE out there is more… People think he can fool a lot of People but he’s wrong on All surveys MOST PEOPLE BLAME HIM, BLAME HIM FOR HIS COWARDNESS and FAKENESS WHAT A FRAUD..

I write an article before the fight of Pacquiao vs Cotto, as I said Roach goal is to get the seventh belt and after that all of you will be on his Mercy, and I am right. Since he was declared the first boxer who have seventh belt in different weight division, Roach can find any fighter that could fit on his fighter in his own term . If you watch closely Pacquiao performance in Marquez vs Pacquiao and compare this to Pacquiao vs Cotto u will notice that Pacquiao is a kind of fighter that don’t like to get hit, but in Cotto case Pacquiao just walk in front of Cotto , Cotto could not even shake him even an inch. Do u think its kind of bizarre.
January 15th, 2010 at 3:24 pm
Massage for Diaz, Hatton , Oscar de Lahoya ,Cotto and the other who will be his victims in the future. All of you will make a tons of money when u fight Pacquiao , but at the end you will be terminated, destroyed physically, mentally and your reputation will gone to drain, does it worth?.
Pacquiao is GOD of Boxing, with his team Roach, Aurum and his trainer a wizard in creating a supper supplement that made Pacquiao unbeatable, he could beat Muhamed Ali , Forman or Tyson . Roach became the greatest trainer of all time awarded with never ending award, Pacquiao team could kick any ass including the Nevada Athletic Commission or any commission that exist.
Floyd is afraid of Pacquiao all fighter are afraid, who will not be, how could u defeat Pacquiao, he has speed, power, stamina that he could last a hundred rounds a fighter that could not feel any pain, not only he could beat anybody but he will destroy you and put you in shame, destroy you physically, mentally , destroy your reputation that your next fight no one will like to buy your ticket. The money will have no more value.
I like boxing but now I ask all the boxing lover that don’t watch pacquiao fight anymore because we know that he will win any way, but the good thing is bet everything you have to paquiao its guarantee that he will never loose. Floyd ask to many, to many blood test.
FUCK the blood test as long as no blood test Pacquiao will never be defeated, support Pacquiao that no blood test . He is clean ???????? So! Don’t ask don’t tell.

pacuiao can only score a knock down because of the cach-weight! pacquiao want $10million per pound penaly. why not you go down at 144 and make free for clottey to take the 147 standard welterweight..

if pacquiao fought cotto in 147 there’s no round 4 and 5 knock down !! but hard to say that pacquiao’s cant do that because he’s always a crying baby and crying baby for all of his life !!
and now you want clottey to go down 1t 144 ?? are you ashamed to yourself ? you’ve beat the hell cotto and now you want a cach-weight again and again.. but your planning to take another title for the another weight. the 154 jr.middleweight ?? maybe 150lbs cach-weigh again..
