England’s ‘Dazzling’ Darren Barker returned to action earlier Saturday in Brentwood, UK with a one sided routing of last minute replacement Danny Butler. Barker dominated the bout and scored a technical stoppage in Round 7 when the bout was waived off to save an over-matched Butler. Barker, a stablemate of WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch, was originally slated to face former world title challenger and British middleweight champ Wayne Elcock who pulled out late this week due to flu like symptoms. Barker out-boxed Butler in his place and once again looked like he’s added some good power to his classic slickster style. With the victory Barker improves to 21-0 (14 KOs) and the Commonwealth champ will look to take the next step in his young career in 2010, eying a world title fight at middleweight.
