Chris Henry TKO 6 Shaun George

Unheralded Chris Henry scored a significant upset earlier this evening when he shocked and stopped top rated light heavyweight Shaun George on ESPN’s ‘Friday Night Fights’, broadcasted live from Philadelphia. George, who had recently garnered acclaim for stopping former heavyweight titleist Chris Byrd, came on strong in the opening round and hurt Henry. George landed the right hand almost at will and it looked early on as though it would be a walk in the park. After Round 2 George seemed to come completely off the tracks and Henry started walking him down. George looked more and more disinterested with each passing round and Henry hurt him with a big right hand in Round 6 and dropped him hard. George beat the count but the fight was waived off immediately when he went down again. With the win Henry improved to 24-2 (19 KOs), while George dropped to 18-3-2 (9 KOs).
Matt Godfrey W UD10 Shawn Hawk
Cruiserweight Matt Godfrey made easy work of previously undefeated Shawn Hawk in the main event of ESPN’s ‘Friday Night Fights’ earlier this evening in Philadelphia. Godfrey out-boxed Hawk with ease in an uneventful fight. After ten rounds were complete there was no suspense before Godfrey was announced the winner by wide scores on all three official cards. With the win Godfrey improved to 19-1 (10 KOs) and retained his NABF cruiserweight title.
Jesse Brinkley W UD10 Mike Paschall
Former Contender star Jesse Brinkley won a light heavyweight bout earlier this evening in Reno, Nevada when he outpointed Mike Paschall over ten rounds. Brinkley was busier and outworked Paschall in the majority of the rounds, and with the victory, the Nevada born fighter improved to 34-5 (22 KOs) and has not lost since dropping a decision to Robin Reid two years ago in 2007.
