Felix Sturm survives Khoren Gevor over twelve rounds
By FightFan.com Staff (11-Jul-2009)

Felix Sturm W UD12 Khoren Gevor

WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm survived a determined effort from busy challenger Khoren Gevor moments ago at the Nürburgring Speedway during the weekend of the 2009 German Formula 1 Grand Prix. Gevor started out strong and maintained a high work rate through out the majority of the fight. Sturm had great difficulty landing his patented jab and the shorter Gevor swarmed him with activity early on. Gevor had success smothering Sturm all night, although the reigning champion did land the cleaner and more effective shots (though they were few and far between). Gevor appeared to have the edge down the stretch while Strum was able to elevate his game late. After twelve rounds were complete all three judges saw the fight for Sturm 117-111 and 115-113 (x2). FightFan.com had the bout scored 115-113 for Gevor. With the victory Sturm improved to 33-1 (14 KOs) and retained his WBA middleweight title.

can anyone tell me if Sturm will fight Anthony mundine from Australia thats the fite mundine has been chasing so i hear he has the ibo belt.

  2. Bigkat Says:

It’s all about the money, Adam; that will be the deciding factor. Sturm has not fought Abraham or Pavlik due to monetary concerns. If one of the big networks refuses to pick up the bout or doesn’t offer enough money, then a fight is not likely to be made. Sturm could have fought Pavlik, and unified three of the belts, but both fighters refused HBO’s monetary proposal. Unfortunately, it’s us fans who miss out. Stay tuned… .
