Eddie Chambers W MD12 Alexander Dimitrenko
‘Fast’ Eddie Chambers lived up to his nickname earlier Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany when he easily out-pointed previously undefeated Alexander Dimitrenko over twelve one-sided rounds. Chambers looked lean and fit in the fight (at 208 pounds, his lightest weight since 2003) and started out quickly. Chambers was busy, he jabbed often, and he put quick punches into bunches. Dimitrenko seemed almost immediately bewildered, and he had little success finding Chambers, who was illusive with his defense. Chambers moved his head well and took the fight to his taller opponent. As the rounds went on the dominance continued. Chambers mixed in a good body attack and hurt Dimitrenko with a liver shot in Round 7. In Round 10 he scored a knock down off a three punch combination to the head. Chambers had a big Round 12 to close out the fight, rocking Dimitrenko a final time. After twelve rounds were complete two judges had Chambers ahead 117-109 and 116-109 while the third judge (Paul Thomas) appeared out to lunch, scoring the fight even at 113-113. At the end of the day an in-shape looking Eddie Chambers went to Germany and clearly defeated a previously unbeaten Alexander Dimitrenko to earn the right to face WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. With the win Chambers improved to 35-1 (18 KOs) while Dimitrenko dropped 29-1 (19 KOs).

Nice analogy Mark, that was like a prime Apollo Creed in motion.
I give a lot of credit to Chambers. He’s been less than impressive in some outtings and looked as thought he wasn’t in as good of shape as he could have been.
In this fight he looked lean, mean and serious.
Punches in bunches, fast hands, good defense.
That was a very impressive performance for a heavyweight fight.
Chambers is up there with Arreola and Johnson as the best American heavyweights and I think he’d be a tough fight for anyone if he’s that in shape and motivated.

I haven’t been as impressed with Chambers in the past, but I’ll give him credit in this one.
Even as the smaller man, he was the aggressor and nearly scored himself a stoppage in the process.
He doesn’t seem like he has the power to one-punch KO somebody, but he definitely has the power to hurt and bust them up. More like James Toney’s power than Chris Byrd’s lack of power.

chambers has now beaten sam peter and dimitrenko in his last 2, the guy deserves a title shot more than haye or arreola, but he is well mannered and small which probably make him harder to promote than haye and arreola, i have followed chambers since his fight with derric rossy
