IBF bantamweight champion Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko retained his title moments ago in Florida with an impressive twelve round decision win over Vic ‘The Raging Bull’ Darchinyan. Darchinyan, who was moving up in weight for this bout, attacked at the opening bell and both fighters exchanged bombs in Round 1. It was clear both men could punch, and as it turned out both took a good punch as well. Wild swinging punches were exchanged by both fighters early on but as the rounds went on it was clear Agbeko was not going to wilt under Darchinyan’s power and pressure as so many before him had. Agbeko worked Darchinyan’s body very well and began to bust him up down the stretch. A frustraded Darchinyan neglected his newfound boxing abilities after the mid way point of the fight and fell in to the trap of looking for a knockout. Agbeko was too strong and too busy, and despite Vic making a good account of himself late in the fight, Agbeko captured a unanimous decision on all three official cards when twelve rounds were complete. Scores were 116-111, 114-113 (x2). With the win Agbeko moved to 27-1 (22 KOs) while Darchinyan suffered just his second career defeat (the first was a KO loss to Nonito Donaire) and fell to 32-2-1 (26 KOs)

  1. Pound4Pound Says:

i was wrong about this one i thought Vic would show more of his skills he let the trash talk get to him and tried to knock him out with one punch and failed he should propbably move back down he was wobbled a couple times i still think he is a great fighter and a better fighter but he fought the wroung fight and Agbeko was the better man tonight

Great job to Joseph “King Kong” Agbeko

  2. Ace Freeman Says:

I like Vic at 115. If he can still make that limit without depleating himself too much I think that’s where he’s better suited.

As was seen in this fight, he just doesn’t have the same effect when the guys get bigger and he doesn’t have the technical savvy to adjust.

He’s much more dangerous at 115. Take a few more fights there, build back up a bit, and then shoot for the big interest / payday fight against Nonito Donaire.

  3. big joe Says:

I always think when these guy’s go up on weight they lose something.Tonight Vic lost his punch and confidence. He gave King Kong his best punch and he walked right through it.
Vic should stay at 115lbs. and that’s where I don’t think anyone can beat him.(just his age)

  4. Anonymous Says:

    YES YES YES!

  5. Anonymous Says:

finally, someone shut this big mouth motherfuka up…

    donaire and now agbeko.

  6. Dan Bald Says:

Darchinyan should not only stay at 115 lbs. he should stay in Armenia and stay there “for life” together with Gary Shaw.

  7. anaconda Says:

The same fate will soon be happen to Floyd. Just like Vic, he fight with his mouth.

  8. pakloy Says:

    nonito donaire vs.kingkong agbeko.darchenyan a loud mouth looser,looser,looser.wa hahaha.gogogo nonito.

  9. kimbaldo Says:

i wonder wat vic is thinking ryt now…….

  10. nonito donaire jr Says:

i will see this fight just because darchinyan lost… just like all mayweather fights, im lookin forward to it..

  11. Pacfan Says:

Next time Vic, let your fist do the talking not your mouth! So how do you feel right now? when you talked it seems that you are the best p4p fighter, you’re always boasting your power and you are always overconfident once you have incoming fights..you did not thinked whom you have faced a fighter like KINGKONG.. How come if you will faced Donaire again??You cannot even knock down Agbeko…So hoping that next time you’re loud mouth will not be using as your weapon..!!

  12. SceneSpectator! Says:

Vic is exposed! his career is as good as over because he can not go beyond North or South of his weight. Agbeko and Donaire confined him to just stay in Superflyweight! But it wouldn’t be long before Donaire comes up and would take those Darch titles too.

  13. mikesman Says:

The ” Raging Bull ” is good for KARE KARE or KALDERETA.

  14. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

Darchinyan got beaten to the punch all night and what made it worse was the fact that Vic waited to land one big punch.

I sure hope Darchinyan can redeem himself after this defeat because let’s face it as much as some hate him I in other hands love his attitude I think it’s great and exciting for boxing!

I just hope to see Darchinyan versus Donaire one more time although Gary Shaw I believe won’t let it happen.

Vic Darchinyan versus Fernando Montiel would also be nice for boxing!
