FightFan.com was LIVE on location at the Staples Centre on Saturday night for HBO card featuring junior welterweight prospect in with his toughest test to date, Argentina’s Marcos Maidana.
Maidana scored a massive upset, stopping Ortiz in Round 6 after opening a bad cut over Ortiz eye. The bout was a back and forth slugfest with both fighters trading knockdowns in the first round. Ortiz scored two more knockdowns in Round 2. Maidana seemed to take over the bout in Round 4, landing several vicious right hands that rocked Ortiz and eventually led to the stoppage.
