First hints of Floyd’s interest in a Pacquiao fight emerge!
By FightFan News Wire (09-Dec-2008)

Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. interested in returning to boxing for a generational showdown against Manny Pacquiao in 2009? Read on to find out!

It didn’t take long. In fact, Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have made his first phone call about fighting Manny Pacquiao just moments after the Filipino fighter’s eighth round destruction of Oscar De La Hoya ended last Saturday night in Las Vegas. David Mayo of The Grand Rapids Press (a local publication in Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s home town of Grand Rapids, Michigan) is reporting that the recently retired pound-for-pound king has already placed phone calls to family members stating he would like to end his retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao in 2009. According to the report Floyd Mayweather’s cousin Janelle Mayweather received a phone call from Floyd moments after the Pacquiao – De La Hoya fight ended, where Floyd Jr. reportedly told her he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao. The reason for the call was so that the cousin could connect him with his estranged Father, top trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who Floyd Jr. supposedly wants to reunite with in training to fight Pacquiao. The news ultimately reached Floyd Sr., who apparently has yet to speak with his son directly.

A Pacquiao vs. Mayweather showdown would be a multi million dollar fight in 2009 that would pit the two greatest pound-for-pound fighters of this generation against one another, with both men conceivably being in their prime. While Mayweather Jr. appears to be reaching out to reunite with his father, he was said to have made mention of the fact that his uncle (and recent trainer) Roger Mayweather would most certainly still remain in the fold. Pacquiao is currently on his way back to the Philippines and intends to take some well deserved down time. In 2009 he has two very attractive options available to him if Mayweather is in fact interested in returning to boxing. The other match being a mega 140 pound showdown vs. light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. There is surly much more news to follow in this latest breaking saga.

  1. nolann valdez Says:

i think this would be a total mismatch. why? because even if pacquiao has a better match with oscar pacquiao would really have a problem a fighting a fighter that has speed and a great boxing skill such as JMM what more if he face mayweather. i hope that pac will know the fact their differences

  2. martin mejia Says:

there you go again pacman non believers. wait till both of them (manny and floyd) is in the ring and see what will happen. one will be called uglyface after the fight

  3. Kurtmarcus Says:

hehe, same thing they say ODLH will do to the PACMAN. But then after the fight…ODLH seems shock. PACMAN again will prove them wrong :-)u better be ready PBF…coz after the fight..u’r pretty nomore :-)

  4. Anwar Jamison Says:

To the people that are saying what Pac man will do to Floyd and that is a mismatch – get real with yourselves. Floyd Mayweather is not Oscar De La Hoya.

That being said, Pac Man is capable of winning that fight, just like Floyd is. This, unlike the last match would be an actual match. One thing it would not be is a mismatch.

  5. tolits Says:

yeah just like what everybody said david diaz is different from jmm and dala hoya is different from diaz, all of them will bow down to pacquiao

  6. Anonymous Says:

this would be a really good fight. i think this would be the hardest of floyds career and we will see if he has heart.

  7. krause Says:

delahoya n may weather reach the 12 rounds what more in pacman n floyd…..prettyboy will give up also at round9 we will see

  8. Twanaz816 Says:

This will be a very good fight. I am a Floyd fan and think he can’t lose, BUT, Pac is one hell of a fighter, he will press the hell out of Floyd and make him fight. Floyd has never been bloody after a fight but I think he has a good chance of getting there after this fight. One thing people are under estimating is Floyd(thought I would never say that) but this will be a fight no mismatch either way. Both men will be hurt and it will go 12 rounds, who will win is yet to be settle, we have to let them settle that. Title of the fight : “Pound 4 Pound”

  9. nastyman Says:

I really think this fight will happen as floyd loves money,so by fighting pacman they will both get richer and we will see a great fight.I have never been pacman’s fan,i have always under estimated him.I thougth he was gonna lose to oscar. However it was totally the other way around.I have so much respect for pacman now.Pacman was the only fighter who really beat oscar if you know what i mean.Floyd vs pacman in mid 2009.

  10. Bigkat Says:

I’d love to see a Manny vs. Floyd showdown. That’s a fight that could definitely go either way. First, I think I’d like to see Manny take on Ricky Hatton. That’s a match that also promises to be very interesting, as Ricky is still dangerous. I’d still give the edge to Manny, but what a fight. If we’re lucky both fights will take place.

  11. kidragon Says:

this will surely be exciting..another big challenge for pacman..i’m a pacman fan but i think floyd will win a 12-round decision..not sure thouh since floyd has been inactive for a while..now people saying things bout JMM, i don’t think JMM can defeat Pac in the higher weights.Pac had some problems in the superfeatherweight, he was so tight..he now moves faster and slicker. but i think a 3d JMM fight can be a good warmup for Pac in case he fights floyd..but floyd’s got a really solid defense although i think he wouldn’t hurt Pac much

  12. Anonymous Says:

man yall jus wanna c floyd lose bcuz he dat truth pacman good and deserve his props but floyd jus too elite 4 him da golden boy was 36 and pass prime manny has 3 loses floyd still has not loss so da da math i kno yall would like 2 c floyd lose but its not gon happen

  13. Tyrone Wilson Says:

MONEY MAY VS. PACMAN WOULD BE DA FIGHT OF DA CENTURY… I GOT MY MONEY ON MAYWAETHER

  14. Marciano la Viva Says:

This fight depends on the ff:
When the weather is good, this is for Mayweather.
But if the money is right, this is for Manny.
whether it is for weather or money, this match-up is too good to be seen.

  15. Anonymous Says:

this is no mis match floyd cant keep up with manny if they would fight manny would win by decision a one sided fight cuz floyd dont fight hes defense an accurate an u cant fight that way with the pacman

  16. tdizzle Says:

    Floyd will win, Gauranteed

  17. Marciano la Viva Says:

Well, Floyd is a great fighter, but the problem is, he was in retirement. Surely he has a lot of rust to clean, and with this you can’t hardly find your target especially to a guy like Manny who is fast and has good mobility. Even a couple of monhts of rigid training won’t elevate you into your peak. I would say, training is largely different when you’re inside the ring, as ODLH told in his lost to Pacman.
i would recommend to Mayweather that he should first get 1 or 2 fights with lesser caliber boxer to sharpen his skill before fighting with Pacman.
Do not go with your emotion Mayweather, stay clever!

  18. bacuzi Says:

I’m so sick of the trash talking Mayweather, Jr. I’m betting on Pacquiao. I’m looking forward to see Mayweather losing and shutting up his mouth.

  19. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

Calm down FIGHT FANS first let’s see if in fact Mayweather Jr returns to boxing.

If Floyd does make a comeback than of course I will pick Mayweather over Pacquiao by unanimous decision.

Manny Pacquiao is good but Floyd Mayweather Jr is a great boxer, too dam slick, simply too much for Pacquiao. Love or hate Mayweather Jr the man can box beautiful, he’s quick on his feet. Mayweather Jr can slip and dodge most punches, Floyd will make Pacquiao look silly.

Mayweather Jr is what we call the sweet science of boxing!

I just hope Mayweather Jr does return to boxing because I do not want to see Pacquiao versus Hatton. Ricky Hatton will be not match for Manny Pacquiao, no competition at all.

  20. george Says:

before, its baby face, el terible, and the counter punch specialist rivalry. the replay of events is now going on at 147 lbs. anyway its just a replay. we already knew the first one, lets find out who will play for el terible and who for the specialist, is it Floyd for el terible or Ricky. we’ll find out on May09

  21. Dennis Says:

    To PACMAN HATER:

I guarranty all of you guys that PACMAN has the power to destroy Floyd Mayweather Jr. coz like recently that PACMAN punished OSCAR but Floyd didn’t punish Oscar in their fight last year!!! so what do you think?? Floyd as always you know that he is a coward to exchange punches with his opponent…that is why almost his fights are so very boring you know???It doesn’t have an excitement!!

  22. Dennis Says:

In addition that Floyd when he fight as i have noticed that he always keep on running!!!lol!!!

  23. Barte Says:

YEAH!! Floyd has no power to destruct the enemy..like when he fight Oscar he had been almost punished by OSCAR,and that is why it is a controversy why Floyd won that fight?? He is a coward because he always keep on running and there is no excitement when he fight coz he didn’t exchange punches with his opponents!!! lol!!

  24. Barte Says:

YEAH!! Floyd has no power to destruct the enemy..like when he fight Oscar he had been almost punished by OSCAR,and that is why it is a controversy why Floyd won that fight??

  25. george Says:

at this time, no more ‘one man standing’ amigo. there will be only 2 guys who can stand on his way (maybe hehehe), the klitsko bros.

  26. terminatorh Says:

Im not sure about that Ivan, dont forget pacquiao is very quick, also pacman is a southpaw and it will be harder for floyd to predict were pacman’s attack will come from.
Im on pacman’s side,i admire his humility and heart.Im 50-50 on this one,the two fighters have the chance to beat one another.

  27. terminatorh Says:

and I do want to see pacman v.s.hatton,maybe in the same fightcard floyd can fight as well to promote their fight.

  28. krause Says:

pacman has a good heart a breave heart and a heart of a true champ…just a single mistake 1 of the fighters will down just be carefull money may…. godspeed but, 4 sure god is on manny’s side

  29. Eddie Says:

pacquiao vs jmm 3 would b good, then this or hatton…

the reason is so jmm can stfu already… he even said in an interview that he would go up 147 to fight pacquiao..

my opinions about this fight is very confusing, just like pacquiao vs dlh by that time

  30. fearless boxer Says:

Floyd Mayweather should keep his mouth shut!! He is a boring fighter!

  31. dhoods Says:

JMM continue talking and talking (canvass kisser)I want to see you fight in Super lightweight first or fight with Andre Berto or Margarito b4 you meet the Pacman again (to create a noise)…For me the two fights w/ You & Manny are won by Pacman…I dont want to see them again in the ring…I want Hatton first as tune up fight for Manny then Floyd Jr to determine who is the true P4P king….Thanks Manny for the gift this X’Mas coz i won 5K pesos.

  32. WhiteLion Says:

Pacman and PBF are my favorite figthers..

PBF has the defense that nobody can penetrate.

Pacman has the fire power that nobody can stop…

well if this fight happens then it will be a battle of best figther in 147lbs below.

  33. mjay Says:

Golden Boy deserves a rematch at 154 lbs. will see if pacman could make it on his real division!
    lets make it happen!

  34. jok jok Says:

    mmj ubetter sleep na

  35. jok jok Says:

jmm canvassss kissserrrrrrrr.pacman is the bestttttttttt

  36. leovinik_930 Says:

if i were manny i’d like to pick up hatton first then floyd. if these two boxers will lose via TKO then i will fight JJM for the 3rd time. and maybe this time the PACMAN will send him down to sleep on the canvass. he’s gonna kiss the canvas goodnight. tatahimik na yan!

  37. leovinik_930 Says:

floyd? MARU yan! oscar lost to floyd not in boxing but in marathon. if floyd fights manny… he will win in slowmo WALKATHON. manny wala kang katulad!

  38. Twanaz816 Says:

Wow, alot of emotions on this page. People who think mayweather is a coward, wow, He is a smart fighter,PERIOD. Thats just like watching a basketball game and wanted to see all the tricks, between the legs behind the back and all the great dunks and still lose, thats just not smart. You are suppose to win the game. Same in boxing win the fight, hit your oppenent more then he hits you, hurt him more then he hurts you, period. However you do that, that is the objective. Not lets see who can get hit the most and not fall down. And as far as power ask Hatton if Floyd has any power. Why fight Hatton, if he can fight Floyd, when Floyd knocked out Hatton? Floyd and Pac are two different fighters, and thats why ODLH had more problems with Pac then Floyd, it is the styles. I will say this again Pac vs Floyd the best fight to make and it will be one HELL of a fight.

  39. krause Says:

hatton no match 4 manny he is like diaz i will not surprise if hatton will sleep on the ring maybe floyd will win the match…. its d fight of d century thats what im waiting for….

  40. ian Says:

there are a lot of option for manny pacquiao in ’09. it would be great to see pacquiao fight hatton. i’m sure the tickets will really sell. imagine the number of filipino and british fans watching the fight. it would be massive!! but i’m sure this would just be an easy fight for pacquiao because hatton is a brawler, a fighter that does not think, and not really that accurate in his punches.
in the case of pacquiao and mayweather jr fight for ’09, i think it will really be a test for pacquiao to see if really got the power above the 130-lbs division. mayweather is really fast in both his hands, has a excellent footwork, his punches are very accurate, and his a defensive player with a knockout power.
pacquiao’s 135-lbs title match against diaz is not really a testament to his strength in higher weight divisions because diaz was not a power puncher. and his fight with de la hoya was good, but what we really saw is that de la hoya was not the boxer we know during the days.

  41. ian Says:

pound for pound #1 vs pound for pound #1, mayweather jr vs pacquiao, losser will just settle for number 2…

  42. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

If it ain’t Floyd Mayweather Jr then let it be J.M.Marquez versus Manny Pacquiao one more time!

It’s funny how Pacquiao fans hate J.M.Marquez maybe it’s because “Dinamita” has given trouble to Pacquiao in both close fights.

Stop hating on J.M.Marquez he is a true warrior you guys know it. Both J.M.M and Manny Pacquiao are made for each other! Both fights between these two have been very exciting why not a triology eh!

  43. Mitch Says:

Man, so many fans let their emotions get in the way of the fight. Pacman fans think he’s unbeatable **NEWSFLASH** EVERYONE is beatable. Pacquiao faught De La Hoya — but I couldn’t believe experts, trainers and the like thought De La Hoya would woop his ass. For me, it was obvious that Pacman could take De La Hoya, and it is obvious that he can also take Mayweather. HOWEVER, Mayweather is the champ. He has been hit hard, really hard… and he has been pressed by almost every fighter. Mayweather has proven himself time and time again. Everytime someone goes up against Mayweather, people think “Mayweather’s good — but he has never faced a boxer like this before.” Total crap! Mayweather may not fight like you want him too — but he wins because he fights to win, not to knock people out. Manny won’t punish Mayweather like he did with Oscar — and in all honesty, that is his only chance of beating him… because Mayweather can match him for speed, outmatch him on defense and sure as hell match him for power. You take all those variables and the fight will likely go the distance, in which case Mayweather wins in the end. Mayweather doesn’t tire — the guy trains for 6 minute rounds! It may not be the greatest fight in history, but it will be a great match up because they’re both about even in skill. So knowing that — who will come out on top? I wouldn’t bet on Pacquiao — not because he isn’t better, but rather because he has never faced a guy like Mayweather — and nobody has until they fight him, and then they always say “Damn that guy! He’s great!”

  44. ara mina Says:

HATTON FIRST, FLYOD SECOND, AND THE GREATEST TRILOGY OF OUR TIME, MARQUEZ. after it, we can move on to our political career and ofcorz our showbiz flirts, hehehehe….

  45. yo quero Says:

I DON’T WHO WINS IF THEY FIGHT..I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM BEAT THE HELL OF EACH OTHER

  46. JO FANTASTICO Says:

i dont really care who PACMAN fights next..i just want to see him fight again.

  47. yo mama Says:

SO NOW EVERYONE WANTS A PIECE OF THE MAN..PACQUIAO..GUESS WHAT PACMAN CA PICK WHO EVER HE WANTS TO FIGHT.

  48. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

    Pacquia should fight J.M.Marquez next.

If Pacman can beat J.M.Marquez in a triology war well than he should try to lure Mayweather Jr out of retirement.

There are unfinished issues that need to be settled between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.

  49. Pambansang Kamao Says:

A lot of you are saying Floyd is sleek and too fast for me. Didn’t you see my speed and power when I whupped ODLH?! Probably it is was too fast for you Floyd fans that you guys didn’t see it coming huh? Just like Oscar. Hahaha. We just have different styles of being fast as a boxer. The BIG difference between us is that I’ve got the POWER and Floyd ain’t!!!!

  50. JAYCABASAL Says:

JMM must create his own destiny, instead theres alot of talented fighters out there rather than picking Pacquiao again. Coz there is somesone who is undefeated also trying to have a pis of Pacquiao
Juan Manuel Marquez vs Edwin Valero. And both are hungry for victory, and whoever wins and maybe will be given ones on fighting the King of Pound4Pound.

    Congratulation Manny Pacquiao
    Mabuhay ang pambansang kamao

  51. leovinik_930 Says:

yeah that’s right! ara mina agrees with me. read it manny. mabuhay ang pambansang kamao!

  52. reactanz Says:

c’mon nolann. Mayweather is not as quick as Marquez… u better get a pair of new glasses man.

  53. ian Says:

pambansang kamao, are you stupid? change your name please..manny pacquiao don’t know that much english. do you know the meaning of “whupped”? i think it might even be a mispelled word…hehhe

mayweather may not end fights like pacquiao does but he never gets hit. his style revolves in the defensive people, unlike pacquiao who attack his people. pacquiao’s punches are to wild. did you see what happen to hatton when he forced his way to mayweather? he kissed the corner then hit his head on the canvass..

  54. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

    Pambansang,

Yes Pacquiao obviously has the power to hurt Mayweather but the question is will Pacman be able to land any power punches?

I believe Floyd Mayweather Jr will just be too dam slick and quick for Manny Pacquiao.

  55. Mitch Says:

Pacquiao will find a way to hit Mayweather. Mayweather is amazing and his defensive skills are outstanding — but that doesn’t make him “punch proof.” He has been hit — quite a few times actually with some good shots from practically every fight in the last 5 bouts excluding Gatti (tragic really.) But Floyd can take a punch. The guy is tough as nails and when he’s pushed, he will go toe to toe with anyone if he has to… but he has never had to really. If Manny fights Floyd first, then it will likely take place in May 2009. If Manny beats Floyd, then expect a rematch by fall later that year. If Manny fights Hatton and wins, then expect a Floyd fight by Christmas 2009. If Hatton beats Manny, then all bets are off and Floyd won’t come out of retirement. So the best fight would be Floyd — because its championship match for Floyd’s belt, and Manny deserves a shot at the title… he’s earned it. I think Floyd is the best decision to go for — but you never know, his management just might want Hatton first as one more fight in that weight class before Floyd.

  56. leovinik_930 Says:

pacman and i have one thing in common. we are both musicians. he’s a singer and i’m a lead guitarist of my own band. i can play my guitar (and even the piano) on the 16th note. pacman can sing and PUNCH on the 16th note. he did on ODLH punching 4 times in just one beat! i don’t think floyd can do it. maybe 8th note or quarter note (quarta martsa) is all floyd can do. if you don’t understand me, ask you music teacher. ok?

  57. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

Pacquiao is a horrible singer just like Oscar was a bad singer himself ha,ha,ha.

Pacman can punch alright no doubt about it but Floyd Mayweather Jr is what you call the sweet science in boxing.

90% of the time the boxer will beat the puncher rememebr that Leovinik. I believe Mayweather will outbox Pacquiao.

  58. Anonymous Says:

Don’t get Floyd Sr in your corner Floyd

  59. $Lifestyleflashy$ Says:

Floyd Mayweather is just too damn good! Manny maybe fast but Floyds peak a boo style defense his footwork his slickness even power will be too much for the little phillipineo! Dont forget just how quick Floyd can be! Please make a return Mr MAYWEATHER the sport needs you back big time! Love him or hate him the guy ooozzzesss Class!!! Real Flashy Baby

  60. leovinik_930 Says:

am sorry sir ivan. it’s just that i don’t like his (floyd) style of boxing. he just keep on running and looks like a coward. he’s not ready to rumble. and besides, i am an avid pacman fan. let’s just wait till they collide in the ring. peace man, ok?

  61. kadjo Says:

hey..hey..hey..here comes the coward…mr. mayweather your nuts..try to fight cotto and margarito first thats the reason why you retire man..now you want to fight the smaller guy..you know your the no.1 pound for pound coward in the world next to you is oscar who rubbed the people making them believe he can knocked pacman..

  62. TAEmo Says:

i gotta take a shiet..my asss is about to explode!!!

  63. TAEmo Says:

im getting knock-out by the smell of the toilet!

  64. Twanaz816 Says:

    Let me print this again:

Wow, alot of emotions on this page. People who think mayweather is a coward, wow, He is a smart fighter,PERIOD. Thats just like watching a basketball game and wanted to see all the tricks, between the legs behind the back and all the great dunks and still lose, thats just not smart. I will say this again Pac vs Floyd the best fight to make and it will be one HELL of a fight.

Tired of all the hate getting thrown at Mayweather, Don’t mistake your personal felling for the fighters ability’s.

1st: Cotto and Bob Arum had a chance to fight Floyd about two years ago or so, and they turned him down, said that Cotto wasn’t ready. When asked about fighting Floyd, Cotto didn’t say that he wanted to fight him and simply said I just fight and don’t pick my oppenents,(can respect that). But his team had an oppurtunity to take on floyd and didn’t want to fight him.(A lot of people don’t know this). Not saying Cotto isn’t a good fighter, because he is a great fighter, he just ran into a fighter who really can take a punch and just loss. I really think that he was out of shape too, but that’s just me. Also I looked at the Mosley fight and thought Cotto did indeed win the fight, but he didn’t just dominate the fight. With that said, Floyd didn’t duck Cotto, I don’t even know if an offer was even made. Plus Floyd said on ESPN that he would love to fight Cotto, but Cotto loss to Margarito.

2nd: Margario is the only one that I can truely say that Floyd didn’t fight when an offer was on the table. I think the only reason was(and i could be wrong) is because of Margarito’s drawing power, what we have to understand is that boxing is a business, and if I’m not mistaking Floyd turned down this fight and went and fought Gotti(MIS MATCH) and just put another notch on his belt, which I must admit, he should have fought Margarito. But lets look at Margarito with 5 losses, and one coming just a little while ago to Williams, he shouldn’t be considerd an average fighter, he is most definatly a great fighter but he did loss to Williams in a fight where he should have really won, and until he goes and makes that rematch with him, lets not talk much about him. By the way he will beat Mosley.

    3rd
Cintron, ??????? seriously are we even going to go there, He isn’t ready for Floyd PERIOD

    4TH
Williams I though was the biggest threat torwards Floyd until he put on a very dissapointing performance against Carlos Quintana and I realized that he isn’t polished enough to even fight Floyd. Floyd is to great of a boxer to loss to Williams.

    5th
Berto, he gets hit to much to fight Floyd, plus if Floyd was to fight him and beat him, then all of the critics would be asking who has Berto fought besides Floyd to say he was ready for Floyd.

With all that said I think that Pac vs Floyd is a good fight and it could go either way. No matter who Floyd beats there will always be an up coming fighter who people will say” he has to fight him in order to be the greatest” they do this until a fighter losses so then they can say, ” he really wasn’t that good”

    (not in any order)
    Elite Fighter:
    Floyd Mayweather
    Manny Pacquiao

    Great Fighter:
    Margarito
    Cotto

    Good fighter:
    Berto
    Williams
    Hatton

  65. $Lifestyleflashy$ Says:

    Spot on!

  66. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

    Twanaz,

WOW! You must be Mr. Boxing very well said.

In regards to Margarito losing to Williams it was disappointing at least for me it was. You must also remember Margarito had Williams hurt towards the end of that fight. However I must agree with the fact that Margarito/Williams has to happen. I also wonder if Mayweather Jr returns will he eventually fight Margarito?

Also I love the way you said to all the Mayweather haters how they should not let their personal feelings get in the way. Mayweather haters must realize and come to admitt that Floyd is a great fighter. Mayweather has the skills, the man is always 100% focused.

As far as Berto goes I feel Andre is over-rated. Mayweather Jr will be too fast, slick and win by unanimous decision.

I must say I do wonder whether or not Floyd Mayweather Jr will make a comeback to fight Manny Pacquiao?

If Pacman can beat Mayweather I would then consider him an elite fighter until now I say Pacquiao is an exciting great fighter.

    Leovinik,

You don’t have to like Mayweather Jr but you should come to realize how great of a fighter Floyd is. The sport of boxing is to hit and not get hit. It’s called the sweet science! I hear you because I myself love watching two fighters slug it out. Just remember every fighter is different, styles make for great fights that’s what boxing’s all about. Mayweather Jr is not a coward nor is he running, he is boxing.

    $Lifestyleflashy$,

I agree Mayweather Jr will be too fast, slick and maybe even stop Pacquiao if they were to meet in the ring.

  67. $Lifestyleflashy$ Says:

For Sure Ivan! Pacquiao would start well with his fast hands backing Floyd up against the ropes, most of his punches hitting Mayweathers arms with that great peek a boo style it is hard too hit him. Then as the fight goes on Mayweathers jab snapping into the face of Manny then the little combos start taking thir affect but still Manny comes forward to fight! . . . . Then BANG Cheque Hook Baby!!!

  68. JAYCABASAL Says:

Wow! like they say “it’s easier said than done”. Its is true that Floyd will be te most serious challenge of all for Manny. But the thing is Manny will be just get better and better… Manny is like a “Borg” that adopts everything they learn and then use them to their advantage. If you have the strength its not enough if you dont have the speed, if you have speed it is still not enough if you dont have the skill, and if you improved that skill it would be enough to earn the most viable position in boxing to be number one “Pound for Pound”.
    Floyd had it…
    Pacquiao has it…
    Now lets find out…
    PREETY BOY VS PACMAN 2009
    THE CLASH OF THE TITANS

  69. $Lifestyleflashy$ Says:

It would be a great fight thats for sure, fingers crossed that Floyd comes out for this one.

  70. bunol Says:

to all boxing fans out there. To which side are you. mayweather or pacquiao’s. just relax and w8 for the day the two will clash… Just shut up all of you coz you cannot predict!!!!!!!!! We will see the result if that two elite fighters collide each other… There you will see what really boxing is….

  71. ian Says:

i hope that mayweather will come out of retirement next year. i want to see him fight again. maybe another weight class might be good for him. he already have a 130lb, a 135lb, a 140lb, 2-147lb, and a 155lb belt around his waist. its nice to add another collection and keep that clean record of his. but if he wants to fight pacquiao, it would be really great so that pacquiao would know where he truly belong. he should just stay in lower weight class. mayweather against anyone, i just want to see those fast hands again..

  72. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

    $Lifestyleflashy”,

I sure am keeping one finger crossed and the other well my middle finger to all the haters out there ha,ha,ha!

If it ain’t Mayweather versus Pacman then let it be Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez one more time!

  73. Ivan "LatinoPorVida" Montiel Says:

I just heard Judah versus Pacquiao could be taking place for May 2009.

  74. melvin277 Says:

mayweather jr is a clever fighter and pacman as we have seen is unbelievable – but if the fight will be on 147 lbs, i opt for pacman.

  75. R U S L E G S '08 Says:

I think Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight would be the fight of the century. They both have fighting skills that would make Boxing a great sport. If this fight will indeed happen only one fighter will surely kiss the canvass… that would be PACMAN.

  76. TUZ Says:

I am Filipino and i am proud of our warrior and i will be on his side “Manalo o Matalo”, i believe that this would be a great fight, God bless this great fighters, let the spirit of competition and Good sportmanship rule in their hearts!

  77. Rod Says:

It is impossible that there will be a pacquiao and mayweather fight, because mayweather is a chicken he is not brave enough to fight pacquiao especially when he saw pacquiao beats dela hoya badly. Do you remember when mayweather fight with dela hoya? mayweather looks like a chicken running accross the ring and chased by a very hungry wolf like dela hoya. Luckilly the judges are very stupid enough to give the victory to the chicken mayweather.

  78. james Says:

roach has a dirty tactics they want a great fighter but not in their weight classes like cotto and mosley ,, roach want them to fight pacquaio in 142 not in 147 bcoz roach said in yahoo sport that cotto and mosley is a dangerous fighter in 147 .. they want a sure win not a 50/50 fair fight.. mayweather faced dela hoya in 157 not in pacquiao-dela hoya fight at 147 dehaydrated ..
if you ever imagine pacquaio fought dela hoya at 147 and why pacquiao refused to fight cotto-mosley at 147 bcoz dela hoya is old and to slow he cannot go down at 10pounds.. (kill herself)
mayweather is resign after hatton-mayweather fight (and he is the top p4p king and 6time world champion) their is no need to prove,, so why floyd should accepting the challenge of cotto-mosley the (winner) if mayweather is in retairment??
